St James’ Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4ST is to host three of the 2015 Rugby World Cup matches… South Africa vs. Scotland at 16:45 on Saturday 3rd October 2015; current Rugby World Cup winners New Zealand vs. Tonga at 20:00 on Friday 9th October 2015 and Samoa vs. Scotland at 14:30 on Saturday 10th October 2015.

Newcastle upon Tyne‘s Castle Keep is over 900 years old. It was built between 1168 and 1178 on the site of an old Roman fort by the river Tyne, a castle was founded in 1080 by William the Conqueror’s eldest son. It was this castle that gave Newcastle its name. The Castle Keep is a Norman stone tower overlooking the river Tyne. It is a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The current special offer is for a 50% discount on the cost of entry – two adults or a family of five for £4. The normal adult entry ticket cost is £4.

Any guests staying with us in 2014 and plan on using the Tyne & Wear Metro to travel to/from our guest house in South Shields may want to make a note of the pricing changes that are to take place over the Tyne & Wear Metro system.

From Thursday 2nd January 2014 Tyne & Wear Metro ticket prices will be as follows…

A one-zone DaySaver ticket will rise from £2.50 to £2.60.
A two-zone DaySaver ticket will rise from £3.50 to £3.60.
A three zone DaySaver ticket will rise from £4.40 to £4.50.
A one zone single fare rises from £1.70 to £1.80.
A weekly two zone ticket rises from £14.40 to £14.80.

If you’re looking for an organised firework display to attend this November then you may be interested in the display that is going to be held at Newcastle Cricket Club on Osborne Avenue, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 1JS on Sunday 3rd November 2013.

The gates open at 5pm; entertainment including face painting starts at 6.15pm and the firework display starts at 7pm until 9pm.
