Lecturers and Performers

Here are just some of the performers at the 2013 South Tyneside International Magic Festival...

Scott Land (USA) - First ever UK appearance!

Scott Land is a puppeteer at the top of his game.

His seasoned performing skills are on display in nearly every scene of Paramount Pictures' Team America: World Police. During the making of the movie - the most expensive puppet-driven feature film ever produced - Scott did more than pull the strings on dozens of lead characters. Throughout the 4 months of shooting, he provided his expertise to director/producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone who, shot by shot, relied on his 25 years of marionette experience to help them create their landmark film.

Other screen credits include Disney's The Princess Diaries 2, for which he created and performed a Julie Andrews look-alike marionette. His other TV and film credits include Pee Wee's Playhouse, The Ben Stiller Show, Still Breathing, Shakes the Clown and Rodney Dangerfield's Birthday Bash.

Sylvester the Jester (USA)

Sylvester the Jester is a world famous comedy magician, inventor and artist whose surreal blend of cartoonish visual comedy and innovative magic has garnered several prestigious awards and made him a frequent guest on TV shows around the world and cemented him as one of the top acts in both the magic and comedy world.

Charlie Frye & Co (USA)

For the last twenty-odd years Charlie and his wife Sherry have been delighting audiences worldwide with their singular blend of silent comedy, magic, juggling, slapstick and acrobatics.

Their performance will no doubt present their amazing skills and passionate love of their art in something clasic yet undeniably fresh - something that astounds as much as it entertains!

Jimmy Carlo (UK)

Acknowledged as one of the leading children's entertainers in the UK Jimmy Carlo (Jimbo) is renowned as a top class performer. He has travelled around the world entertaining with his unique brand of magic, who has, for a number of years, entertained at all major holiday centres in the UK plus TV, Royal Caribbean Cruise Ships, Top Venue's and Hotel Chains Worldwide.

Jimbo made history in 1991 by becoming the first ever act to win 3 major awards at the British Ring's International Brotherhood of Magicians Convention in Great Yarmouth. The awards were Best Magic Act, Most Original Act, and Best Comedy Act. 1999 also saw Jimmy win the coveted title of British Champion of Comedy Magic and KIDabra International Family Entertainer of the Year 2009.

Dani DaOrtiz (Spain)

Dani DaOrtiz is a rising star of Spanish close-up magic, who many consider the next Juan Tamariz. He has many publications to his credit and is the editor of ElManuscrito, a magazine which focuses on articles of lasting depth about the foremost figures and milestones in magic.

Gaston (Germany)

Two-time FISM Champion, Gaston, is a key member of the famed Flicking Fingers and one of magic's most creative performers. He performs in a way that will go straight to your heart. He is a master of metamorphosis, both as a magician and as a performer. You'll be amazed when he plays with different characters: the likeable nerd, the strange egocentric, the dazzling seducer and lots more! ... Just tell him what he's supposed to, choose a topic and a language, and he will comply - within seconds.

Graham Jolley (UK)

Graham is one of Britain's top mentalists and one of the magicians who fooled Penn & Teller on their British television series. Known for his razor sharp wit and rapid-fire mind reading, Graham is one of the UK's top comedy performers. His inspirations are Al Koran and Chan Canasta and he brings a uniquely entertaining style to this genre of magic.

Peter Turner (UK) - First ever UK Convention experience!

Peter Turner became interested in magic at the age of 5, making the transition into mentalism at the age of 15 and has been performing professionally for several years. His first book titled 'Devious Realities' was published by the highly regarded 'Wizard' Kenton Knepper, who openly admitted he was fooled and impressed by Peter's material.

Peter is widly known for his use of sneak tactics, daring techniques and use of perception control to create clean elegant effects. His second book 'Dare to Bold' is now on release and aimed at seasonal performers that are looking for workable material. Since then Peter has published several more books and has consulted for various performers around Europe.
