North\"><u>Marathon of the North<\/u><\/a> course starts and finishes at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/stadium-of-light-sunderland-sr5-1su\/\" title=\"Stadium of Light Millennium Way Sunderland SR5 1SU\" alt=\"Stadium of Light Millennium Way Sunderland SR5 1SU\"><u>Stadium of Light<\/u><\/a> on the north bank of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/river-wear\/\" alt=\"River Wear\" title=\"River Wear\"><u>River Wear<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After crossing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/wearmouth-bridge\/\" title=\"Wearmouth Bridge Sunderland\" alt=\"Wearmouth Bridge Sunderland\"><u>Wearmouth Bridge<\/u><\/a>, the route follows the first few kilometres of the Sunderland City 10K course.<\/p>\n<p>The first half of the race course is on the south side of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/river-wear\/\" alt=\"River Wear\" title=\"River Wear\"><u>River Wear<\/u><\/a> it is predominantly flat with few noticeable gradients and includes a circuit of picturesque <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/barnes-park-sunderland-sr4\/\" title=\"Barnes Park Barnes Park Road Sunderland SR4 7PY\" alt=\"Barnes Park Barnes Park Road Sunderland SR4 7PY3\"><u>Barnes Park<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the halfway mark the route returns back across the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/wearmouth-bridge\/\" title=\"Wearmouth Bridge Sunderland\" alt=\"Wearmouth Bridge Sunderland\"><u>Wearmouth Bridge<\/u><\/a> and the last ten miles is run adjacent to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/river-wear\/\" alt=\"River Wear\" title=\"River Wear\"><u>River Wear<\/u><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/roker-sunderland-sr6\/\" title=\"Roker Sunderland SR6\" alt=\"Roker Sunderland SR6\"><u>Roker<\/u><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anniesguesthouse.co.uk\/blog\/tag\/seaburn-sunderland-sr6\/\" title=\"Seaburn Sunderland SR6\" alt=\"Seaburn Sunderland SR6\"><u>Seaburn<\/u><\/a> beaches.<\/p>\n<p>You can see a
