Newcastle upon Tyne's Central Station Metro station to South Shields - single (one-way) journey adult ticket costs £3.30. If you will be returning to Newcastle upon Tyne later that day we recommend that you initially buy an adult DaySaver ticket for £4.80 which allows a full day of Tyne & Wear Metro travel.
A child's single fare is 80p and a child's DaySaver ticket (under 15, proof of age required for over 12's) is £1.20.
The above ticket prices are correct January 2016.
For returning visitors to the North East who may be wondering about off-peak/peak time tickets, off-peak/peak daysavers and return tickets - Tyne & Wear Metro revised it's ticket pricing structure in January 2013. Return and peak/off-peak ticket pricing is no more. It's now just a single fare or DaySaver with no peak or off-peak times.
