Dickens by Candlelight – A Christmas Carol takes place at Alderman Fenwick’s House, Pilgrim Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 6SQ from Tuesday 13th December until Saturday 24th December 2022.

Dickens by Candlelight – A Christmas Carol retells Charles Dickens’ classic Christmas story A Christmas Carol.
Alderman Fenwick’s House is one of the oldest buildings in Newcastle upon Tyne dating back to 1670 it now serve as a boutique office and events space.
Alderman Fenwick’s House was converted to and renamed the Queens Head Inn in 1781.
In the 1850’s, writer Charles Dickens was a guest at the Queens Head Inn while visiting Newcastle upon Tyne to give readings and performances of his works.
Dickens by Candlelight – A Christmas Carol is set in the former Queen’s Head Inn’s former restaurant and salon the Great Room.
This new adaptation was written by Stewart Howson and performed by Louis Roberts in the title role of Charles Dickens.
Charles Dickens has a long history with Newcastle upon Tyne, he married the daughter of the then editor of the Evening Chronicle and frequented Newcastle upon Tyne often with his theatrical tours.
The unique setting of Alderman Fenwick’s House on Pilgrim Street offers a Christmas theatre experience unlike any other, in a stunning period setting.
Dickens by Candlelight – A Christmas Carol is suitable for ages 12 and over.
Doors open at 7pm and performance starts at 7:30pm, ending approximately at 8:45pm with a 15min interval.
Apart from the matinee on the 24th of December where the doors open at 2pm and the performance starts at 2:30pm.
Adult tickets cost £29.50, concessions £24.50.
