Pre-sale tickets are £10.00 plus £1.12 booking fee.
Early bird tickets are £12.50 plus £1.30 booking fee.

Magic Rugby Weekend 2023

The Magic Rugby Weekend is back on Tyneside on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June 2023 at St James’ Park in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Tickets go on sale next Sunday 23rd October 2022 and our booking calendar is open if you are looking for accommodation for your visit to St James’ Park in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Magic Rugby Weekend was first held at St James’ Park in 2015. More than 68,000 fans attended in 2016 across the weekend – the highest recorded attendance for the two-day event.

Next years event features three rugby league matches on Saturday 3rd June and three on Sunday 4th June 2023. The match schedule is as follows…

Saturday 3rd June 2023

1.30pm – Salford Red Devils vs Hull Kingston Rovers
3.45pm – Wigan Warriors vs Catalans Dragons
6pm – Leeds Rhinos vs Castleford Tigers

Sunday 4th June 2023

12.30pm – Wakefield Trinity vs Leigh Centurions
2.45pm – St Helens vs Huddersfield Giants
5pm – Hull FC vs Warrington Wolves

The Lindisfarne Gospels

The Lindisfarne Gospels, the most spectacular manuscript to survive from Anglo-Saxon England, will be on display at the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne from 17th September until 3rd December 2022, on loan from the British Library.

The Lindisfarne Gospels will feature in a contemporary exhibition about its meaning in the world today and its relationship with themes of personal, regional and national identity.

Created on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the book represents the golden age of design and craftsmanship in Northumbria and has survived in almost perfect condition for over one thousand years.

The exhibition will begin with an immersive digital experience and include a stunning selection of early medieval treasures brought together from across Britain, representing both personal and collective religious experiences in the 8th century. A selection of paintings, drawings and photographs will further explore how art and spirituality have developed in the centuries since the Lindisfarne Gospels were created.

A highlight of the exhibition will be a new work by Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller.

Opening times for The Lindisfarne Gospels exhibition is Monday to Sunday 10am until 7:30pm with last entry at 6:30pm.

Admission charges apply.

Ticket prices are as follows…

Peak – weekday afternoons from 2pm until 5pm and weekends from 10am until 7:30pm.

Donation adult ticket £14

Concession ticket £10

Off peak – weekday mornings 10am until 2pm and weekday evenings from 5pm until 7:30pm.

Concession ticket £7

Each ticket is a 30 minute admission time and is valid for 90 minutes from the time you enter the exhibition.

High demand for tickets is anticipated and capacity is limited for each time slot.
