The Word – National Centre for the Written Word is South Shields’ newest building and it is set to open this Saturday 22nd October 2016 at 10am.
The Word can be found at 45 Market Place, South Shields, NE33 1JF.
The Word is adjacent to St Hilda’s Church, Market Place, Harton Quays, ASDA South Shields and the Shields Ferry Landing.
The Word is a new state-of-the-art cultural venue which includes a library, café, viewing terrace, local and family history centre, shop and visitor information centre.
The Word’s library has over 70,000 books in stock.
You don’t have to be a resident of South Tyneside to use the library – good news for our guests – you simply need to become a member of South Tyneside Libraries.
Library opening hours will be Monday to Thursday 9am until 7pm; Friday 9am until 5pm; Saturday 10am until 4pm and Sunday 10am until 4pm.
