Any guests staying with us in 2014 who plan on using the Tyne & Wear Metro to travel to/from our guest house in South Shields may want to make a note of the pricing changes that are to take place over the Tyne & Wear Metro system.

Tyne & Wear Metro

From Thursday 2nd January 2014 Tyne & Wear Metro ticket prices will be as follows…

A one-zone DaySaver ticket will rise from £2.50 to £2.60.
A two-zone DaySaver ticket will rise from £3.50 to £3.60.
A three zone DaySaver ticket will rise from £4.40 to £4.50.
A one zone single fare rises from £1.70 to £1.80.
A weekly two zone ticket rises from £14.40 to £14.80.

The following fares guide (updated January 2013) details Tyne & Wear Metro’s tickets in detail.

The 2014 Tyne & Wear Metro fare guide has yet to be published.

Alnwick Garden Discount

Alnwick Garden on Denwick Lane, Alnwick, Northumberland, NE66 1YU have a discounted ticket offer available at the moment.

The discounted ticket offer is £2.50 for entry for one child (38% discount), £7 for entry for one adult (44% discount) and £18 for a family pass for two adults and up to four children (40% discount).

Alnwick Garden’s usual prices are £4 per child, £12.50 per adult and £30 for a family ticket.

Sights to see inside Alnwick Garden include the cherry orchard, the fountains of the Grand Cascade and the ornamental garden’s European plants.

Alnwick Garden also boasts a winter light installation which sees various plants and features lit up in a variety of colours over the festive period, along with a traditional Christmas market from 23rd November to 24th December 2013.

Refreshments and memorable views are available at their Treehouse restaurant or Pavilion café.

Haven Point Leisure Centre

The new swimming pool and leisure centre complex Haven Point on Pier Parade, South Shields, NE33 2JS is now confirmed to be opening in October.

The photograph above shows Haven Point swimming pool and leisure centre complex complex under construction with Beach Road, South Marine Park and Seafield Terrace in the background.

Haven Point leisure centre will contain a 25-metre competition pool, an 18-metre learner pool – both with adjustable floors.

The learner pool will also include leisure areas including flumes, sprays, bubble pools and water play.

Also inside will be a sauna and steam room, gym, two dance studios, a rooftop gallery/terrace and an amphitheatre.
