For one day only this spring you can join a special tour of The Victoria Tunnel in Newcastle upon Tyne.

This tour will tell the story of how a recently discovered manuscript indicates that at the time of building Hadrian’s Wall, the Romans also built a tunnel that ran underneath it.
The Victoria Tunnel is one of the North East’s best-known heritage attractions, but few people know its relation to Hadrian’s Wall.
During this very special tour running for one day only on Friday 1st April 2022 you can learn about the fascinating history of this coal waggonway turned air-raid shelter whilst unearthing some of The Victoria Tunnel’s Roman secrets.
The tour lasts two hours and costs £12 per person.
Available times are 10:30am until 12:30pm and 1:30pm until 3:30pm on Friday 1st April 2022.
