Ice Skating at Beamish Museum

If you are visiting Beamish Museum this winter then you may like to take a spin on their ice rink – open daily from today 18th November 2017 until 7th January 2018 – closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Weekends only from 8th January 2018 until 9th February, daily from 10th February until 18th February (half term) and weekends only from 19th February until 25th February 2018.

Ice Skating At Beamish Museum County Durham DH9 0RG 2017

Beamish Museum’s real ice rink is twenty metres by ten metres and can accommodate up to seventy skaters and promises to be a festive experience for all the family, suitable for novice skaters up to expert.

Beamish Museum’s ice rink is part of their winter fun fair and is decorated in a traditional Edwardian style with festoon lighting.

Ice skating tickets are available to purchase at the winter fun fair.

Tickets include skate hire and cost £5 for adults and £4 for children up to 16 years old.

Under 7’s must be accompanied on the ice by an adult.

Children aged 8 to 12 must be supervised by an adult (from rink side).

Skate sessions last a minimum of twenty minutes.

There is also a special offer – for every full paying adult, one child skates free.

Skate session times are listed below and include initial skate collection/exchange, at least twenty minutes on the ice and skate return/exchange.

Skates are available in junior size 8 to adult size 15.

Session 1 – 10:15am
Session 2 – 10:45am
Session 3 – 11:15am
Session 4 – 11:45am
Session 5 – 12:15pm
Session 6 – 12:45pm
Session 7 – 1:15pm
Session 8 – 1:45pm
Session 9 – 2:15pm
Session 10 – 2:45pm
Session 11 – 3:15pm

If you are staying at our bed and breakfast accommodation this winter then you may like to enjoy ice skating at Sunderland’s Keel Square a few miles from us.

Ice Skating is available from Thursday 30th November 2017 until Sunday 7th January 2018.

The full timetable is included here to help you plan your visit to Sunderland.

Ice skating at Sunderland this Christmas kicks off with a gala event on Thursday 30th November 2017 from 6pm until 7pm.

The ice rink will be open to the public from 12 noon until 6pm then again from 7pm until 9pm.

Sunderland’s ice rink opening hours are as follows…

Thursday 30th November until Friday 22nd December 2017
12 noon until 9pm – public skating.

Saturday 23rd December 2017 until Sunday 7th January 2018
10am until 9pm – public skating.

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve
Closing time 6pm.

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day
Closed all day.

Please note that all skating sessions on Christmas Eve must be pre-booked.

Prices
Children age 12 and under – £6.50.
Adults and over 12’s – £7.50.
Family ticket (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) – £24.50.

Each ice skating session is one hour long with a guaranteed minimum of 45 minutes.

Watch professional skaters Gary Beacom and Lisa Brewin take to the ice.

Every Friday night
Skate through the Decades
Don your best retro attire and hit the ice for a flash dance back through the ages. Skating Session from 6pm until 9pm.

Saturday 2nd December
Super Heroes and Princess Skating
Spot prices for best costumed skating, along with face painting and appearances from maybe a character or two.

Saturday 9th December
Snowy Sleepover
Wrap up warm in your onesies for a snowy sleepover on the ice.

Saturday 16th December
Force is Frosty
Come as your favourite Star Wars character in celebration of The Last Jedi showing on cinema screens.

Saturday 23rd December
Christmas Countdown
Santa hats and Rudolph ears are more than welcome for this Christmas countdown on ice.

Christmas Eve
Open from 10am until 6pm (booking advised).

Saturday 30th December
Rockin’ Revel
Old school rock around the rink.

New Year’s Eve
Open from 10am until 6pm (booking advised).

South Shields Christmas Lights Switch On The Word Market Place South Shields

If you are staying with us on Thursday 23rd November then you may like to visit The Word at Market Place for South Shields’s Christmas lights switch on.

South Shields Christmas Lights Switch On takes place from 6pm until 7pm and is free to attend.

Entertainment for the Switch On includes X Factor 2015 Reggie ‘N’ Bollie, music from singers Jenn Cherene and Channy, stilt walkers and festive characters who will mix and mingle with the crowd.

An appearance from Dame Bella, Arbuthnot and Puddle from this years pantomime at The Customs House, The Lambton Worm.

Also on Thursday 23rd November is the Winter Lights Night Market – also taking place at Market Place from 3pm until 8pm where you can buy handmade gifts, crafts, prints, festive treats and more.

Firework Display & Halloween Party

Doors open at 6pm.

There will be a funfair all night.

Super heroes and Disney princesses show starts at 7pm till 7:45pm on stage then get your photo taken as they wander around the crowd.

Fire dancers at 8:15pm.

Firework display at 8:30pm.

Tickets cost £6 for adults; £5 for children/OAP’s.

Under 5’s get free entry.

A four person family ticket is available for £20.
