Sunderland’s adopted warship HMS Ocean will be visiting this weekend.
HMS Ocean and her crew were granted Freedom of the City of Sunderland in 2004 and she last visited the city in 2012.
If you are staying with us this weekend and would like to go and see HMS Ocean in Sunderland, Corporation Quay is 15-20 minutes drive from our bed and breakfast accommodation.
HMS Ocean is due to arrive at the mouth of the River Wear at approximately 2:30pm and is due to berth at Corporation Quay opposite the National Glass Centre in Sunderland at approximately 3pm on Friday 1st May 2015 for her eighth visit to the city.
A 300 person freedom parade is due to set off from Burdon Road in Sunderland at 11am on Saturday 2nd May with a service at the War Memorial before the parade commences.
The parade will then proceed to Fawcett Street, High Street West and Market Square before returning to Burdon Road past the War Memorial.
HMS Ocean is open to visitors at Corporation Quay in Hendon on Sunday 3rd May 2015 from 1pm until 6pm and again on Bank Holiday Monday from 11am until 5pm.
