Our South Shields accommodation is centrally located on Beach Road, half way between South Shields Town Hall (shown below, on the corner of Beach Road and Westoe Road) and the sea front.

If driving to South Shields follow the A194 East until you reach South Shields Town Hall (the end of the A194).

Take the left lane at the traffic lights then immediately take the right hand lane as you pass through the traffic lights and enter Beach Road.

Our accommodation is half way along on the right-hand side at number 106.

The second free South Tyneside Festival Sunday concert at Bents Park, Sea Road, South Shields, NE33 2LD takes place this Sunday 17th July 2016 from 1pm until 5pm.

Scottish duo The Proclaimers comprises twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid will be performing hits such as Letter From America, Let’s Get Married and I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).

Also performing are rock and folk band Lindisfarne now fronted by founder member Rod Clements. Their hits include Meet Me On The Corner, Fog On The Tyne, Lady Eleanor and Run For Home.

Newcastle soul singer and songwriter Beth Macari who previously fronted the house band on Sky One show Bring the Noise will also be performing.

Gates open at 1pm, Lindisfarne will begin their set at around 2:10pm, The Proclaimers will take to the stage at around 3.30pm.

River Tyne River Trips 2016

Summer river trips on the River Tyne start tomorrow, running from 19th June until 4th September 2016.

There are many different trips to choose from and are a unique way to view some of the historic sights along the banks of the River Tyne and to see the modern new developments taking shape along the river.

The three hour river trips sail between South Shields and Newcastle upon Tyne, as far as Newcastle and Gateshead Quaysides where you will get to see and sail under Gateshead’s iconic Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

The two hour river trips let you take in the monumental landmarks of the surrounding local areas of North Shields and South Shields and sail out towards the piers at the mouth of the River Tyne.

Entertainment is provided on many of the river trips with something to suit all the family from live river commentaries, sing-a-longs to fish & chip trips – all of which are regular features of their scheduled summer programme of events.

A variety of children’s entertainment also runs throughout the school summer holidays.

Armed Forces Day at Bents Park

The Armed Forces Day events start at 10am and features an exhibition of motorbikes, scooters, classic cars and military vehicles.

There will be face painting, trade stands, a custom motorbike show, a custom scooter show and classic cars of all types.

There will also be beer and refreshments, a tattoo studio, street entertainers, food vans, ice cream, sweets and a kiddies fun fair with live bands all day.
