HMS Dauntless Visits Tyneside

Newcastle upon Tyne’s affiliated warship, HMS Dauntless, has berthed at North Shields for a weekend of events on Tyneside.

HMS Dauntless

The 152m long Type 45 destroyer vessel joined the Royal Navy fleet in November 2010 and is visiting Newcastle upon Tyne, her affiliated city.

The public will get the chance to have a look around on Sunday when there will also be a parade.

The Royal Navy had to apologise after hundreds of visitors were turned away from an open day in Great Yarmouth after the event was “hugely oversubscribed”.

South Tyneside Magic Festival 2013

The final line up for the upcoming South Tyneside International Magic Festival has been announced.

South Tyneside International Magic Festival returns to South Shields on Friday 8th, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th March 2013.

South Tyneside International Magic Festival 2013

Day one features a children’s show and lecture with Jimmy Carlo, a workshop with voice coach Simon Raybould, close-up sessions with Dani DaOrtiz, Charlie Frye, Rob James, Sylvester the Jester and Gaston and the choice of either a séance lecture by Dale Shrimpton or a question and answer session with Debbie McGee.

Day one concludes with an International Gala Show featuring a host of stars, including Paul Daniels and renowned puppeteer Scott Land, followed by an exclusive midnight performance by comedy spirit medium Ian D Montford, who recently began hosting his own show on BBC Radio 2.

Day two offers lectures by Charlie Frye, Graham P Jolley, living cartoon Sylvester the Jester, Gaston, Brian Sefton and John Archer.

John Archer also hosts another International Gala Show featuring performers from around the world.

Day three concludes the convention with lectures by Pete Turner and Scott Land and the opportunity for attendees to take part in a master class with Scott, Sylvester the Jester or Dani DaOrtiz.

Pre-arrivals on Thursday 7th March can attend an additional master class with Pete Turner.

All four days offer the opportunity for attendees to meet with various magic dealers from across the UK.

Tickets for the convention are £65 which includes entry to both International Gala shows, the midnight show and all lectures and close-up sessions.

Masterclasses incur an additional charge.
